Roughneck on Alberta oil rigs, real estate salesman, factory representative for a Calgary trailer company, public relations man for an oil magazine, stock broker, and for three years, president of his own, unsuccessful oil company. Sound like a good start for a restaurateur? Yep, along with all of the above, this was also a guy with a big appetite-the likely reason for his decision to open his first steakhouse, in Calgary, in 1956. It was the beginning of an empire of tenderness and great taste. Hy Aisenstat's Only would become part of the country's fine-dining language. Accepting for Hy Aisenstat is the President of Keg Restaurants, Hy's son David Aisenstat.
