
Friend of the Industry : Jamie Maw![]() Called ‘one of Canada’s foremost authorities on food and restaurants’ by Peter C. Newman, Jamie Maw is expert on what we eat, but also how we eat it—the real life business of restaurants. He is also a vocal champion of sustainable farming, ranching and fisheries practices. For 15 years Jamie was food editor of Vancouver magazine, and a regular contributor to The Globe and Mail and The Vancouver Sun, and Western Living, Bon Appetit and EnRoute magazines, amongst many others. Together with fellow-inductee Sid Cross, Jamie founded The Chefs’ Table Society of BC, a collaborative of more than 150 of BC's top chefs and culinary professionals. In 2008, Jamie was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in the Culinary Arts by Vancouver magazine. Jamie founded the Vancouver magazine Restaurant Awards, the largest of their type in Canada, and was the founding editor of The Eating + Drinking Guide to British Columbia and co-editor of the bestselling cookbook, Vancouver Cooks. He is also a regular commentator on all things delicious on CTV, SHAW TV, Global TV, and CKNW and AM1150 Radio. Jamie has also served the tourism and hospitality community as chairman of Canada Place for nearly a decade, and was a founding director of Vancouver International Airport. Currently, he is hard at work editing a new regional cookbook, as well as his own food memoir, called Eating Out Abroad. Click on the image below to start video
