
Back of the House : Pino Posteraro![]() BiographyGiuseppe (Pino) Posteraro was born in Lago, Italy. At the age of twelve he came to Canada to visit his brother not realizing that later he would be making Canada his permanent home. Training to become a doctor, an incident made Pino change track and he decided to work for his brother in his restaurant in Toronto. Pino then returned to Europe to study with Armando Zanetti who became his mentor. Before returning to Canada he worked in several well known restaurants in Europe and Singapore. In 1999 Pino decided it was time to open his own restaurant. He opened Cioppino's Mediterranean Grill in Yaletown in September of that year, providing Vancouver with an outstanding Italian/Mediterranean restaurant which has gained many awards for its food and wine including winner of the 2007 Vancouver Gold Medal Plates, 2008 Vancouver Magazine's "Chef of the Year" and 2009 "Restaurant of the Year". Pino has also been inducted into the Italian Cultural Centre's "Hall of Fame" and the Gold Medal Plates "Hall of Fame". |
