Bing Smith tribute to Duncan Holmes

From BC Restaurant Hall of Fame Founder & lifetime achievement award Winner Bing Smith, to 2009 lifetime achievement award Winner Duncan Holmes

Dear Duncan:

Thank you for the kind words, and yes, on Monday watching the amazing warmth and friendship by the entire BC hospitality industry genuinely displayed for each other touched me as we have started something wonderful to pull the industry together by recognizing amazing individuals from all facets of the restaurant community.

When Scott Jaeger said to be in the company of Marti / Clark / Barnaby / Tojo / Feenie / Butters / Dubrulle / Casavant / Hawksworth and Haas it quickly indicated how many incredible individuals we have recognized in just one category and then to top off the evening with your well deserved lifetime achievement award it could not have been a more magical night.

Every now and again you make a great decision and I thank my lucky stars that in year two we involved Dawn as the event producer which is really why more than a dozen people on Monday night told me this is now the industry event of the year. Her creativity and love for the event is unparalleled.

Duncan: you were involved since year one and your support of the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame every year has been very instrumental in making it what it is today. I am very fortunate to call you my friend and will be forever indebted to you for your ongoing support.

Congratulations on your well deserved induction into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame and another highlight of the evening for me was watching the smiles and pride from all of your daughters on how proud they were of their incredible father. You are an amazing person and a treasure to the industry.
